Dallas Dyslexia Students Can Learn To Be Good Test Takers
Dallas Dyslexia Students can now learn to be good test takers.
Students with Dyslexia can be taught techniques and strategies to help them become good test takers. Parents some lucky students seem to be able to understand the language and art of test taking. However, often students with Dyslexia seem to lack good test taking skills. Countless students with Dyslexia struggle to achieve good grades on tests they spend time studying for.
Dyslexic students often feel frustrated and defeated when they study for hours for a test and still make a low grade on it. After taking a test many students with Dyslexia will say that most of the test covered material they had not prepared for or studied in the class. Others will feel they did great on a test and are surprised to be handed their graded test containing a low or failing grade.
Poor test taking skills can have an adverse effect on the self esteem and self confidence of a student. Attaining low grades on tests which students spent time studying for can also be very emotional defeating and frustrating for students. There are several main causes for poor test performance, which in many cases can be corrected with proper training.
Students with learning issues often have difficulty knowing what information they should study. They spend too much time reviewing less important information. Some Dyslexic or ADD/AHDH students do not always recognize the academic information they reviewed when it appears on a test.
Barbara Dianis MA ED worked to overcome Dyslexia and test taking problems in her own academic life. She began studying for hours for tests only to make low grades on them. Barbara knew she had to develop test taking techniques and strategies that would help her overcome this learning obstacle in her own academic life. By developing new test taking techniques for herself helped her change her low test grades into high ones. She totally changed the ways she studied for tests and went on to become a member of the Dean’s List and The National Dean’s List.
These same techniques and strategies Barbara Dianis developed for herself can help students learn how to study for tests and achieve higher grades on them. Personally understanding the mind of a Dyslexic has helped her to be able to unlock many learning doors for students who struggle academically. Dyslexic students can now learn how to become good test takers.
