Brett Barnett, Sales

Brett Barnett, Sales

Data Center Relocation Movers handle high value moves with our Sales Specialists. Introducing our newest Specialist dedicated to your needs, Mr. Brett Barnett.

Brett was born and raised in Southern California where he frequented the beach and played several sports throughout his school years. Because of his involvement in sports, Brett feels that he knows what it takes to hang in when times are tough, dedicate himself to the good of the team and maximize the greatest value for everyone - especially the customer.

Through a full athletic scholarship in basketball, Brett attended San Diego State University. Shortly thereafter he went to Glendale Community College for a year and then played/coached at Pepperdine University for three years before graduating in 1982.

Looking for new experiences outside of L.A., Brett wandered to Texas for a visit and decided to come back to live. He found a job in the appraisal district of Tarrant County in Fort Worth, but moved back to L.A. for two years to work as an independent real estate appraiser, whose duties include:

-  Estimating the value of the property

-  Familiarity with the location of the facility to anticipate environmental factors

-  Awareness of unique characteristics of the property

-  Keeping meticulous accounts of their research, observations, methods, etc.

Brett’s experience in appraising gives him a broad understanding of what is required in quoting a high value relocation. This makes him a valuable asset for Electronic Equipment Moving here at Texas Moving Co., Inc.

Realizing that he and his family preferred Texas, they moved back once more. Staying true to his love of sports, his subsequent jobs included sales for the Texas Ranger Baseball Club, Director of Sales at SMU for their football stadium, and sales at Texas Motor Speedway. His most recent place of employment before joining Texas Moving Co., Inc. was for Corporate Floors in Grapevine, TX where he became involved in IFMA (International Facility Management Association). Texas Moving Co., Inc. is also a member, and therefore Brett is already well acquainted with a portion of our customers.

As evidenced by his repertoire, Brett Barnett is highly qualified to meet and exceed customer expectations. Throughout the entire process from estimates, transition and completion, Brett and our Data Center Relocation Movers have the experience and knowledge to handle all Electronic Equipment Moving. We have designed much of our equipment, warehouse facility, and our processes to meet the specific challenges of dealing with relocation of high value electronic equipment.

What to consider when selecting a Carrier/Moving Company to transport your custom critical electronic equipment.

*Staff  * Equipment * Insurance * Experience

This article will focus on the most important part of the equipment “The Truck” and more specifically on temperature controlled transportation.  A temperature controlled truck is not always required, but when exposing your sensitive custom critical equipment to the elements you should be aware of the transportation options available to you.

First a refrigerated “refer” truck and a temperature controlled truck are not the same.  Both trucks have a refrigeration unit but the term “refer” typically refers to a 45′ to 53′ trailer designed to transport frozen food.  The temperature controlled truck is designed to transport high value electronics. It has custom built equipment with air-ride suspension, logistic tracks to secure the load, and a rail style lift gate.  *** see picture ***

Use a checklist like this to help evaluate your mover’s equipment:

Does your carrier provide?

  • Climate control in a clean and well-maintained exclusive-use vehicle
  • 24-hour, seven-day-a-week delivery service (work your schedule not your carriers)
  • Direct, door-to-door transit with inside pickup and delivery
  • The same truck and driver to pickup your equipment and deliver your equipment
  • Satellite tracking.
  • Employees to man the truck and protect your equipment at all times.
  • Custom Dollies for handling your equipment (computer carts, server lifts)

To help with the decision of when a temperature controlled truck is required for your sensitive equipment, you should consider how temperature effects condensation.

The amount of water vapor air can hold, is directly related to the air temperature. Warmer air can hold more water vapor than cooler air. When warm air is cooled it looses its capacity to hold water vapor and, if it cools fast enough, it will begin to condensate.

  • Is the equipment moving going to experience rapid temperature changes?
  • Will the equipment have time to reach room temperature at origin before transportation and reach room temperature at destination before powering up?
  • Is room temperature dramatically different than the outside temperature?

A: As far as accomplishments:

  • 31years of experience in the moving industry with Texas Moving Co., Inc.
  • Working my way up from a driver to the Vice President of Operations
  • Obtaining a CDL license, RIM and CMC certification

A: More recent challenges have been the telecom downfall and the recession of 2002. Another challenge was our emergency response to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005. Texas Moving Co., Inc. made over 100 trips in two months and set up a command post in Baton Rouge to aid the relief effort.

Q: What knowledge have you and our Data Center Relocation Movers gained regarding electronic, telecom and data center moving?

A: Every facet including:

A: To take excellent care of the customers, employees, trucks, buildings and equipment. Everything else will fall into place.

Q: Do you have an anecdote or story you would like to share?

A: There was a customer on the top floor of an office building who had commissioned a furniture company to make custom furniture and assemble on site in their office. Once the customer was ready to move, their furniture would only fit through the door to the roof. So, we used our innovative thinking to get a crane to put a trailer on the roof and load their furniture. The was an unusual step, yet the customer was ecstatic that they did not have to disassemble their custom furniture and they were impressed by the solution we provided.

Q: Lastly, is there any personal information you would like to provide?

A: I am a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas whose criteria for membership is that you have ancestry in Texas dating back to when it was a republic. Nov 30

The Electronic Equipment Movers with Texas Moving, Inc have created custom Specialized Equipment that make high value equipment moves safer and easier.

Electronic Transport’s state-of-the-art fleet of vehicles includes tandem axle, air-ride suspension, and straight trucks (”bobtails”). These vehicles represent the evolution of the single axle truck that was researched and developed by Texas Moving Company in 1984. Quite simply, this truck is designed specifically for sensitive, high-value merchandise.

              Truck Features Benefits
Air-Ride Suspension Cushions and protects cargo
Tandem Axle Doubles hauling capacity over single axle - reduces cost for customer
Rail Type Lift-Gate Protects cargo by keeping load perfectly level
Power to all 4 Rear Wheels Increased traction for off road access to remote locations
Sleeper Cab One driver can handle entire duration of shipment; thereby providing increased protection & security. One driver can travel greater distances, which reduces the cost of the shipment for the customer.
Sealed Hardwood Floors Eliminates dust and dirt from entering the cargo area of the vehicle, which minimizes risk to the merchandise.

The Electronic dolly or “E” dolly is designed to safely move heavy electronic equipment. This particular dolly uses a rigid construction to accommodate the large weight that is typical with high-value electronics. However, the “E” dolly’s most significant feature is the addition of the swing out wheel supports. This design reduces the stress load placed on the mover, which substantially minimizes the risk of injury to the mover and to the cargo. For increased safety, Electronic Transport requires two trained movers to operate an “E” dolly - we take the safety of our employees and the protection of the client’s merchandise very seriously.

The Electronic Equipment Movers with Texas Moving Co., Inc. are uniquely qualified to handle Data Center Relocation Services. We have designed much of our equipment, warehouse facility, and our processes to meet the specific challenges of dealing with relocation of high value electronic equipment.
