Content Based Search Marketing does not suffer from Click Fraud
Click Fraud is a significant added cost if you use Pay-Per-Click marketing. Click fraud is not a problem if you use a content based search marketing strategy.
As discussed in a recent article about content based search marketing I stated that one of the major reasons that people have taken the Pay-per-Click advertising model into their marketing mix is that it is so easy to implement and you can basically pay your money and sit back and see traffic to your website based on the click-through rates. The ugly downside is that the more expensive your search term is (more competition drives up the cost per click) the more rampant click fraud is.
Some estimates of click fraud are that the fraud percentage approaches 50% of the clicks, especially on the higher cost search terms. Low end estimates are that click fraud is at least 20% regardless of the cost of your search term. It is abhorent to pay a premium of 20-50% for simple click fraud, but, it is so easy to implement a pay-per-click campaign that the allure of pay-per-click is strong.
Did you know that one of the highest paying professions in the world is centered around the ability to tell a story? Screen writers in Hollywood represent some of the most highly paid professionals. Why? Because the abilility to tell a story is such a powerful marketing tool that Hollywood has recognized that without people who can create stories and write them down for others to read and implement in the form of screenplays is the core of their business. Nothing in human communication is more powerful that the story. Cavemen sat around fires in the evenings after the day’s hunt and shared stories of their days activities and modern men do the same thing.
Internet content that is in the format of a story that is offered for free is the most powerful vehicle that you have to convey to a prospetive client or customer why they should want to do business with you. You do not have to be Stephen Spielberg to have a effective story on the Internet. Most content on the Internet is simple by comparison but can be highly effective.
Your job as a marketing executive (or sole proprietor) is to find a way to tell your story in a simple yet effective manner so that prospective clients and customers can find it and view it and take an action to respond to your message. BLOGs are the most potent tool available to help you tell your story and get it found on the Internet.
Content Based Search Marketing is immune to Pay-per-Click fraud. No one can view your story and cause you to have to pay a fee simply because they visited your website or blog site, unless of course you use pay-per-click to get them there. The goal of content based search marketing is to use tools that are available at little or no cost to get your story noticed.
