Dallas Pest Control Service offers Green Pest Management options.

Dallas Pest Control Service owner, Dennis English, President of Prime Pest Management in Dallas, offers a variety of ’Green’ Pest Management options.

IT IS NOT ABOUT PESTICIDES. It is about the overall approach to pest management in a manner that reduces the impact on the environment. Not all Natural pesticides necessarily fit into Green pest management. It is the manner in which the product is applied that is of importance, and products such as enclosed insect bait stations may be labeled as “green” even though the active ingredient is synthetic.

“Green Pest Management” awaits a specific definition, and pest control industry leaders may work to achieve this. From the opinions of many pest management professionals there are clear similarities between “Green” pest management and “Integrated” pest management. In the overall goal of reducing any negative impact on the environment, while still managing pest problems that affect our customers, we must emphasize:

  • Proper identification of the pest and understanding its biology and habits.
  • Habitat modification to remove conditions conducive to the pest presence.
  • Exclusion to prevent entry to structures.
  • Inspection and monitoring to verify the presence of the pest.
  • The use of non-chemical control measures where appropriate and effective.
  • The use of the least hazardous chemicals where appropriate and effective.

Green Pest Management should also evaluate every other aspect of the business in the goal of lowering any negative impact on the environment. This includes efficient use of vehicles to reduce gas usage,
recycling of all containers and other waste products if possible, good building maintenance for efficient energy use, and other areas not directly related to the control of pests.

The term “green” has become a trendy catchword, and is used with respect to pest control and pest control chemicals and equipment. This term does not appear to have specific regulatory boundaries, and many private enterprises are using it to push their products or agendas.

Websites exist from numerous anti-pesticide organizations – NCAP, NCAMP, NRDC, etc. – with their own definitions of just what “green” pest management entails.

“Green Buildings” and workplaces are being encouraged by government and activist organizations. A workplace may become a “LEED Certified Green Building” by following protocol established by the U.S. Green Building Council, under their LEED Green Building Rating System. The emphasis with this “certification” is on energy efficiency, optimal use of materials, renewable energy sources, recycling and use of recycled products, water conservation, and minimizing workplace health hazards such as molds, radon, pesticides, and insect and rodent presence. (Resource: Pestweb)

Plano Pest Control Service offers Commercial Multi-Family Pest Control

Plano Pest Control Service owner Dennis English, President of Prime Pest Management, offers multi-family pest control services and commercial termite extermination.

Prime Pest Management is committed to providing a no-hassle, no-worry solution to all your pest management needs.

Pest problems are attributed to, but not limited to the following:

  • Lost tenants due to continual pest issues.
  • Structural and surface building damage due to pests.
  • Lost productivity for on site personnel dealing with pest issues.
  • The perception that you are not consumer driven.

It has been said that a customer that has a bad experience at a property will tell ten others, who then tell others, and so forth. It is easy to see that continual pest problems can have a tremendous effect on your occupancy rate.

As opposed to somewhat traditional “interior rotation” services, it is our firm belief that pest management must begin with the building exterior.

The reasoning is simple. We know from experience that over 90% of the pests that enter a building will do so from the exterior; through weep holes, around plumbing and utility penetrations, under and around doors and windows, and through building defects.

Imagine this; a beast is trying to enter your castle. Would you rather meet the beast outside your castle, or let him enter your castle first where he may threaten your family and possessions before trying to subdue him?

Prime Pest Management’s exterior service will stop pests’ cold before they have a chance to enter buildings. In addition this service offers the following advantages:

  • No more hassle with lost, stolen, or missing keys.
  • Less intrusive, leading to greater resident satisfaction.
  • More effective, meaning less headaches for you and fewer complaints.
  • Still allows for interior request service if needed.

We are so confident in our service that we offer a 60 day unconditional guarantee. If you are not happy with our service after 60 days simply write us a letter of cancellation and we will refund all money paid. It’s just that simple!

Prime Pest Management is a full service Plano Pest Control Service and offers the following services:
Termite services, bird management, and wildlife control.

Plano Pest Control Service asks: Do you have a small fly problem?

Plano Pest Control Service owner Dennis English, President of Prime Pest Management, gives some advice on how to get rid of those pesky small flies in your kitchen area.

You must remove the food source and eliminate breeding areas to achieve control of fruit flies, fungus nats and phorid flies. These small flies have a life-cycle of 10 days; sanitation is the only effective resolution. Prime Pest can perform a chemical treatment and/or place traps, but this will only kill adults and briefly knock down the population. The breeding cycle must be broken with good sanitation.

Address these frequent problems:

  • Clean floor drains well. This is the main harborage area for fruit flies and phorid flies.
  • Launder the dishrags, or at least wash them thoroughly with soap, rinse them well and wring them dry before hanging them up (don’t leave them in the sink).
  • Store trash in a covered bin.
  • Do not over water your plants. Over moist plants are sources for fungus nats.
  • Do not toss food garbage into waste-paper baskets.
  • Cover your fruit bowl or store fruit you wish to keep in the refrigerator. Also, raisins, dates and prunes are favorite attractants.
  • Discard all overripe fruit.
  • Clean opened containers of fruit juice, fermented or vinegar products, for example ketchup, siracha or cooking wine. Seal them well. Keep these in the refrigerator if possible.
  • Wipe up crumbs and spills from your cabinets, counter and floor.
  • Take out all trash at least daily.
  • They love rotten bananas; get rid of those.
  • Do not let wet towels and aprons sit overnight in hampers.
  • Clean the seals of your refrigerator door and under the fridge; clean the evaporation pan if it has one.
  • Remove any standing water.
  • Dump mop water, clean the pail, and launder the mop rag.
  • Remove damp lint from the laundry room.
  • Take out your compost and keep your collection bin covered and food additions to your pile buried beneath yard waste.
  • Keep outside dumpster as far from the building as possible and keep it clean.

Prime Pest has microbial drain products available for purchase. Bleach or degreasers will not provide sufficient cleaning in most all situations involving dirty drains.

Dallas Pest Control Service can help control seasonal cricket pests.

Dallas Pest Control Service owner Dennis English, President of Prime Pest Management, offers some advice about crickets in North Texas.

Normally crickets live outdoors where their diet consists primarily of wild grasses, small weeds, and leaf litter, dead insects and organic materials.  When these natural food sources dry up—usually in the late summer or fall—the crickets may begin migrating in large numbers, randomly invading homes and other buildings in their paths.  Summer rains after a period of drought may also trigger migrations.

When the environmental conditions are just right (a prolonged wet spring season which promotes the growth of an abundance of weeds and grasses) the cricket population can build up into astronomical numbers.  When fall comes and their habitat begins to dry up, there can be spectacular migrations, where hundreds of thousands of crickets are on the move at the same time.

The annual cricket activity seems to be arriving early this year.  Prime Pest Management wants our current customers to know that we have begun implementing several treatment techniques to help manage the populations.  These treatments include baiting, crack and crevice treatments, and power spraying certain areas of the lawns.

Since crickets are attracted to lights, we suggest changing the outdoor lighting to less attractive yellow bulbs or sodium vapor lamps. It is also helpful to seal possible points of entry around windows, doors, masonry and utility openings. In commercial accounts it is wise to check door sweeps and replace them if needed. In addition it is wise to keep your lawn mowed and avoid over-watering to alleviate breeding / hatching.

Prime Pest Pre-Construction Treatment Services:

Soil Treatment

Ground soil treatments are applied as a preventive measure against subterranean termites. These termite control treatments offer a chemical barrier, which is intended to block all potential routes of entry, such as cold joints in the concrete, crevices at plumbing stub outs, and open spaces for other utility lines.
The most ideal time to apply ground soil treatments is just before the pouring of the concrete. The treatment should be applied after the fill has been compacted and rough utility lines and plumbing have been installed. The area must also be free of plastic. It is most beneficial to have the concrete poured within 24 hours of the termite control soil treatment.

Wood Treatment

Bore-Care Wood Treatment is a revolutionary termite control pretreatment that is applied directly to the wood in a two-foot barrier on the walls, floor and sill plate. It goes where other products can’t—on the wood instead of the soil. Great for green projects!

Dallas Pest Control Service alerts you to Mole Control facts

Dallas Pest Control Service owner Dennis English, President of Prime Pest Management in Dallas, alerts you to Mole Control facts and information.

Did you know…?

  1. A 5 ounce mole will consume 45-50 lbs of worms and insects each year.
  2. Moles can dig surface tunnels at approximately 18 feet/hour.
  3. Moles travel through existing tunnels at about 80 feet/minute.
  4. Moles contain twice as much blood and twice as much hemoglobin as other mammals of similar size.
  5. This allows moles to breathe more easily in underground environments with low oxygen.
  6. Preferred food source: Insects & Earthworms
  7. Over-watering your lawn can bring soil invertebrates and moles closer to the ground surface, making tunnels more visible. Reducing the amount or frequency of watering may help temporarily.
