Dallas Portrait Photographer Creates Valentine’s Day Portraits
Dallas Portrait Photographer Debra Shore creates Valentine’s Day Boudoir Portraits. What is Boudoir Photography? What’s a good way to display the portraits?
Romance in art has been around for centuries. Great masters such as Botticelli, Rembrandt, and Degas forayed into the realm of romanticizing love and self. From the beginning of the camera age, photographers have created portfolios glamorizing the life in the boudoir, or private chambers. With the advent of motion picture, intimate fashion and dramatic lighting became integrated with portrait photography. Studio portraits from the early 20th century show the romantic influence on modern portrait making.
Today “The Boudoir” has taken on a new meaning. “The Boudoir” refers to our personal inner sanctum. It is a more private, intimate area of our lives. Boudoir Photography is for those whom desire romantic portraiture that showcases their self esteem, desires, and fantasies.
Boudoir Photography has become the most popular Valentine’s Day gift in recent years. Both men and women have come to my studio for boudoir photography and they all describe it as the most fun they have ever had in front of a camera. It’s sexy, elegant, playful, artistic, a high fashion photo shoot with a creative mentality that finds its basis in personal visual exploration.
As a premier Boudoir Photographer, I showcase personality and artistic expression with incredible, beautiful images. Patrons have traveled to my studio from all parts of the United States over my 25 years as a professional photographer for my style of boudoir photography. Why? Because of my fierce pride in creating and producing the highest quality portraits, friendly rapport and customer service, and my guarantee for a fabulous experience.
Here’s how we do it:
1. No two portrait sessions are alike, as there are no two of you. We love talking out ideas for your session. Our consultations, like everything we do, are informative, creative and collaborative. Each session is custom designed to your personal “Boudoir”.
2. Our sessions are versatile and include multiple clothing changes with matching set changes. We design your photo session based on personal style, genres of art, hobbies, and anything else that comes up in the conversation! Many times Boudoir Photography is given as a gift to a significant other, and we discuss with you the little ways that you can personalize your session with items that mean a lot to both of you.
3. The Day of Session is an experience unto itself. My studio is equipped with private dressing rooms, make-up station, and a fully stocked snack bar. Our make up artists are the best in Dallas. Many work on major motion picture, fashion, and executive video productions.
4. Lighting, mood and set design play key roles. I explain to my patrons these technical decisions. By understanding what’s happening behind the camera, they get a better sense of what we are accomplishing and get even more involved in the image making process.
5. Posing techniques keep my patrons slender and shapely. A great pose is really about aligning your body for the camera’s perspective. I pose with each of my subjects so that they see exactly what to do. We work fluidly, going from one pose to the next so that expressions stay fresh. There’s improvisation as well. Sometimes magic happens when you least expect it!
5. After the art comes entertainment. Patrons lounge in leather recliners, sip their favorite beverage, and listen to soft music as they enjoy the fruits of their labor in our large screen media theater.
6. We have a terrific editing program that makes decision-making effortless. We can show two images side by side, make them instantly black and white, crop them and show true-to-life sizing.
7. Want to slenderize your waist, hips or chin? We can do this and much more. Artwork isn’t just about retouching facial imperfections any more. With new digital technology, creating a unique art piece has never been more fun. My on-staff digital artist is always on hand to discuss creative post-photography options.
8. The problem is never “is there a good one?” but rather “I love them all, what do I do now?” A perfect format for tastefully displaying your Boudoir Photography is the “Private Collection” album. This hardbound, custom designed coffee table book includes unlimited photographs, cosmetic retouching and specialty artwork, transforming your entire photo study of images into one cohesive visual narrative.
9. For those who enjoy the electonic age, we offer “Private Collection” movies, which showcase your images in a slideshow set to your favorite music. These can be ready the same day as your session and are ideal for last minute gifts for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, and other special occasions.
10. Because of the extremely artistic nature of my work, many people love to hang large pieces in their homes. We offer a variety of finishes that range from photographic to painterly. The important thing to remember here is getting the right size for the space you hang your portrait in. Is the image “swimming” on the wall or is it “cramped by mouldings and furniture”? Our customer service includes coming to your home to measure for best sizes, as well as to hang your finished portrait.
Boudoir Photography is a fantastic experience for both the subject and viewer. It is not just about clothing, sets, camera and make up. It’s an exploration of your sensibility. It shows what you love about the world, the people in it, and most importantly, yourself.
